Adolf Anderssen and Ignatz Kolisch divided an eleven-game match in Paris. Each player won five games and the remaining game was drawn, leaving the final score level at 5½–5½.
A balanced contest
The match took place in April 1860. Five wins for Anderssen, five for Kolisch, and one draw produced an exact tie after eleven games.
Edo notes that most sources give +5 −5 =1, while one historical argument favors a ten-game +5 −4 =1 result for Kolisch. Its adopted record is the eleven-game draw preserved here.
The record in the archive
All eleven games survive, and they leave the players level on 5½ points each.
The surviving games agree with the result Edo gives, so nothing needed correcting.
