Lange–Anderssen games, Breslau 1859

Seven played encounters, with an analytical miniature excluded
January 1859, as recorded in the source · Breslau, Prussia (now Wrocław, Poland)

Seven scores preserve the encounters between Max Lange and Adolf Anderssen. A famous attacking variation filed alongside them was analysis rather than an additional played game.

The played games and the analysis

The contemporary journal published these seven scores. Lange later identified the celebrated line ending in a queen sacrifice on h3 as analysis, so it is excluded from the played-game collection.

One score ends with a contemporary note that White won a few moves later. Its recorded moves and result are preserved. No source establishes a complete historical series total or an additional missing encounter.
