A national tournament
Jaque’s report describes a national tournament with two grandmasters and five international masters. Sanguineti finished unbeaten, repeating his success at the earlier Konex tournament. Jorge Szmetan and Samuel Schweber scored 7½; the published Sonneborn order places Szmetan second and Schweber third.
Raimundo García and Oscar Panno scored 7, followed by Carlos Guimard with 6½, Reynaldo Balduzzi with 6, Jorge Rubinetti with 5 and Héctor Rossetto with 4. Raúl Castelli and José Luis Agdamus finished on 3, and Ríos on 1½. The original table places García ahead of Panno and Castelli ahead of Agdamus.

The contemporary report prints the full reciprocal table. All 132 ordinary directed cells and twelve final totals agree with the 66 approved scores, each pair represented once. No concrete default, withdrawal, annulment or additional playoff is identified. The 66-game census follows from that ordinary-table and positive-score reconciliation.
The García Sonneborn figure appears as 35.50 in the report, while the full grid gives 36.50. His placing ahead of Panno is unaffected. The archive preserves all recorded results and uses the published order.
Names and chronology
The report explicitly names Raimundo García, identifying the player abbreviated as “García, R” in the native records. That name is expanded under exact source guards; Ríos’s abbreviated forename remains unexpanded. All original moves, results, rounds and source dates are retained.
The native records give only 1977. The report was published in April 1978 and supplies no exact playing dates. Its eighteenth-anniversary occasion is consistent with the municipality’s 1959 creation, but does not establish a playing day or month. A later biographical reference calls the event Santos-Lugares 1978; the archive records this discrepancy without replacing the native year.
