The event and its record
The Sarajevo festival of 12–15 March 1973 brought together 150 players for eleven Swiss rounds. Each player had sixty minutes for the entire game. A contemporary report describes this festival as replacing the usual international tournament.
Rajko Bogdanović, Milan Vukić, Mijo Cebalo, Milorad Knežević and Slobodan Martinović shared first place on 8½ points. The inspected sources do not establish a separate grandmaster section, playoff or additional stage.
Eighty-one approved scores are available. Many games are missing from this collection, but a complete pairing register and account of defaults, byes and withdrawals have not been recovered, so the number actually played is unknown. The individual game records retain their partial March dates and unknown rounds.
