Incomplete record. This archive holds 77 games of this event; the others are missing, and the number played is not established. Only 77 scores are preserved from the 155-player, eleven-round festival. Other games are missing, but the total actually played is unknown.

Vitomir Arapović won Sarajevo’s seventeenth international chess festival with 9 points from eleven rounds. The club history records 155 entrants playing a Swiss tournament, with sixty minutes per player for the entire game.

A four-day Swiss festival

The original bulletin cover dates the festival to 1–4 April 1974. Vincenc Šunjić’s club history places it at the Skenderija cultural and sports centre and records Arapović’s 9/11. Milan Matulović and Zvonimir Meštrović were among seven players tied second–eighth on 8½. The other five names in that tie have not been verified.

The same history reports selected Zenica results, including Ilijas Subašić 7, Smajo Muratović and Ivan Ujhazi 6½, and Nihad Babović 6. It does not supply the complete 155-player standings. No additional qualifying or title stage is established by the inspected sources.

The surviving record

This archive preserves 77 approved scores involving 60 named players. The winner has only three recorded games, and Matulović’s nine recorded games account for 6½ of his reported 8½ points. The collection therefore represents part of the festival.

A complete pairing ledger and account of byes, defaults and withdrawals has not been recovered, so the total actually played remains unknown. The game records keep their partial April dates and unknown rounds; no final standings are computed from the incomplete scores.
