More chess history on the homepage
On a computer, the homepage card now turns between today's picks and a look back at chess history, with a player of the day and an event of the day, and its portrait strip runs through chess history.
The card under the portrait strip has two faces that change every nine seconds. Today shows a player of the day from the biographies and the Game of the Day. From chess history shows a game played on this date and an event of the day, pictured by its winner.
Each pick shows its player's portrait. Pointing at the card, or moving into it with the keyboard, holds it still, and the two dots in its corner switch faces.
The portrait strip runs the full width of the window, ordered by era from the players before 1850 to today's.
