Explore 1,265 game annotations from four Staunton classics and two books by Steinitz.
Howard Staunton’s Chess-Player’s Handbook, Chess-Player’s Companion, Chess Praxis and Chess Theory and Practice join William Steinitz’s account of his 1876 match with Blackburne.
Steinitz’s 1891 Sixth American Chess Congress book adds all 430 played games from New York 1889 with 3,419 move notes, including the replayed draws and Chigorin–Weiss playoff. Its two unplayed defaults are documented separately.
Read the original English commentary beside its moves, open the scanned game pages, or download each book as a notebook. Historical rules and differences in the printed scores are explained alongside the games.
