- 3…dxe4 A deviation from the usual line of play, which is not to be recommended.
- 10…f5 Weakening the King's Pawn. Better would be P to Q Kt 3, to be followed by B to Kt 2.
- 16.c4 The attack introduced by this and the following move proves very strong. The whole game is very well played by Mr. Blackburne.
- 18…Ng6 This move increases the difficulties of Black, but whatever he plays he has a cramped game.
- 20…exd5 Black's game is hopeless. If Q Kt to K 2, then 21. P x P, B x P; 22. R x B, and White wins,
