Argentine Championship 1955
Miguel Najdorf won the 1955 Argentine Championship with 16/19. His 14 victories carried him a point and a half clear of Héctor Rossetto in the complete 20-player, 190-game round robin.
The 33rd national championship
Twenty players met once each over 19 rounds in Buenos Aires. The resulting 190 games form a complete championship record, with every scheduled pairing represented once.
The tournament was the 33rd Argentine Championship. The national champions list and the direct crosstable agree on Najdorf's 16/19 victory.
Najdorf breaks away
Najdorf compiled fourteen wins, four draws, and one loss. Rossetto was second on 14½, and Erich Eliskases followed on 13½.
The title was Najdorf's fifth Argentine championship, following his wins in 1949, 1950, 1951, and 1952.
