From Ilford to Acton

The first cycle took place at Ilford in May. The return cycle was played at Eileen Tranmer’s home in Acton from 31 July to 3 August. Robert Wade had declined the conditions before the tournament began.

The separate six-player Ilford Premier was another competition and is excluded from this collection.

Selection after the tie

Hindle finished one point clear. A proposed two-game playoff between Franklin and Golombek did not take place; the selectors awarded the remaining Olympiad place to Franklin.
