◈A sixteen-player field in Havana
Staged in Havana as a sixteen-player single round-robin of 120 games, the seventh Capablanca Memorial drew a broad international entry. Alongside the two Soviet co-winners came Yugoslavia's Svetozar Gligorić, East Germany's Wolfgang Uhlmann, the Dutch grandmaster Jan Hein Donner and Bulgaria's Ivan Radulov.
◈Korchnoi and Suetin cannot be separated
Viktor Korchnoi and Alexey Suetin finished level on 11/15 to share first prize. Svetozar Gligorić took clear third on 10½ as the only player to come through the tournament without a loss — a distinction that included victories over both of the co-winners.
