Miroslav Katětov won the Choceň masters tournament with 8½ points from eleven games, half a point ahead of Emil Richter. Karel Hromádka finished third with 7½.
The original tournament record
The tournament book dates play from 26 July to 6 August 1942. Its complete finishing table lists twelve players, with a single result for each pair. All 66 games represented there survive in this archive.
Friedrich Sämisch, Jaroslav Šajtar and František Zíta shared fourth to sixth places on 6 points. Jaromír Florián and Čeněk Kottnauer scored 5½; Keller and Augustin Tikovský 4; Bedřich Thelen 3½; Josef Dobiáš 1½.
Three additional Opočenský records
The archive also preserves three scores involving Karel Opočenský, filed under the related Chocen+ source label with the same city, year and July dating. His opponents were Hromádka, Keller and Kottnauer. Opočenský does not appear in the original finishing table, so these records are kept outside its standings.
The available original pages do not establish the reason, timing or full extent of that omission. The collection therefore retains 69 scores without claiming an exhaustive number of games actually played. Keller–Opočenský ends after 61 recorded plies with an unknown result, which remains unknown.
Source limits
Only four photographs of the original tournament book were available for inspection: its cover, complete final table and a spread of scores from round VII. No original withdrawal report or full-book score collation is claimed. The original magazine page files were restricted.
Keller’s forename differs across archive and souvenir-catalogue identifications; the original table gives only his surname. The archive retains its native Rudolf Keller identification. All source moves, results, unknown rounds and month-only dates are preserved.
