Timman wins eight games, but Böhm makes him fight to the finish
7–19 April 1975 · Leeuwarden, Netherlands
Timman won with 9½/11

Jan Timman was the only grandmaster in the field and justified his place as favorite with a brilliant 9½/11. Yet the champion could never relax: candidate master Hans Böhm also went undefeated and finished only half a point behind.

The favorite delivers

Timman surrendered only three draws, winning his other eight games. The performance brought him a second consecutive Dutch title and the 2,500-guilder first prize.

Böhm keeps pace

Böhm answered with seven wins and four draws for 9/11, an exceptional result that kept the final margin to half a point. Robert Hartoch and Hans Ree shared third on 7, two points behind Böhm.
