Incomplete record·26 of 28 games archived

Incomplete record. This archive holds 26 of the 28 games played; 2 are missing. Twenty-six scores are preserved; the Becker–Kramer and Kramer–Eliskases scores are missing from both approved archives. The total of 28 is inferred from the full contemporary ordinary-result matrix.

Hans Kmoch won the eight-player Ebensee masters tournament with 6 points from seven games. Erich Eliskases finished second on 5½, followed by Albert Becker on 4½.

A summer tournament for the club’s anniversary

The Ebensee chess club organized the tournament to celebrate thirty years of its existence. The contemporary announcement gave the dates as 5–13 August 1930. Franz Kunert’s report credited pharmacist Magister Berger’s initiative and support from the local tourism association.

The final field played a seven-round single round robin. Rudolf Dührssen finished fourth on 4 points, ahead of Gruber on 3½, Eduard Dyckhoff on 2, Kramer on 1½ and Franz Kunert on 1. Spielmann and Dr. Seitz appeared in the report as visiting spectators; they were not participants in this tournament.

The full result and two missing scores

The original contemporary table contains all eight totals and 28 ordinary results. Every available native result agrees with it. With no concrete default or withdrawal evidence identified in the inspected report, 28 played games are inferred from that full matrix. The report does not explicitly count physically played games in prose.

Twenty-six approved scores survive in this archive. The scores of Becker–Kramer and Kramer–Eliskases are absent from both approved sources. Their results remain represented by the published standings and the missing-game cells. The later 1933 Ebensee tournament is a separate event.

Original scores and a surviving version conflict

All native moves, names, rounds and partial dates are retained. The contemporary score headers identify Kramer as E. Kramer and Gruber as Dr. Th. Gruber; modern secondary variants do not justify changing the native identities. Dührssen–Kramer agrees with an independently transcribed original score through all 71 plies.

The original Eliskases–Becker score prints 21.Bxe4 dxe4, while both approved archive versions have 21.Bc4 dxc4. Their later move sequences agree, but their positions differ because the native version retains a black pawn on c4. The native 59-ply score is preserved unchanged. The original scores supply some exact dates, but the archive retains the source dates as unknown.
