Efim Geller Memorial — Odessa 2005
Ruslan Ponomariov won the rapid tournament held in Odessa for the 80th anniversary of Efim Geller's birth. His 7½ points from nine games led a ten-player round robin whose complete 45-game score collection is archived here.
An Odessa memorial
Odessa's Pivdennyi Bank organized the tournament to mark the 80th birthday of Efim Geller. The field included Ponomariov, Viktor Korchnoi and eight other players. The organizer scheduled three rounds on each of 1, 2 and 3 July, with 20 minutes per player for a game.
Ponomariov's lead
Ponomariov finished with 7½/9, one point clear of Valery Beim and Yuri Drozdovskij, who shared second. Mikhail Podgaets followed on 5/9. The published crosstable and round ledger record every pairing and result.
Every round preserved
All 45 Mega2024 scores match the organizer's result ledger, with five games in each of the nine rounds. The source page's round captions say June, but its tournament schedule and the game records place play on 1–3 July.
