Tatran Cup 1975 — Main Tournament
The twenty-third Tatran Cup main tournament brought ten players to Starý Smokovec for a single round robin. Milorad Knežević won unbeaten with five wins and four draws, finishing on 7/9 ahead of Viktor Kupreichik’s 6½ and Heinz Liebert’s 6.
The international main tournament
The club-hosted history places the event at Hotel Grand and dates it to 22 November–7 December 1975. The surviving individual game dates run from 24 November to 6 December. The archive retains those dates and the recorded rounds.
A separate twelve-player B tournament at Hotel Bystrina was won by Dušan Treybal. That side tournament had its own field and winner; it is not combined with the ten-player main event here.
The results
Knežević scored 7, Kupreichik 6½ and Liebert 6. György Szilágyi and Ľubomír Ftáčnik both scored 5, followed by Igor Prívara 4½, László Kovács 4, Peter Petrán 3½, Stanislav Matas 2½ and Kvetoslav Rákay 1.
Every player has nine surviving scores and every pair met once. All 45 recorded pairings are playable. The table is computed from those scores; an original official tie-break rule has not been verified.
Sources and their limits
The later club history establishes the edition, venue, field size, format and winner. A secondary database supplies the full results ledger, which agrees with every archived color, result and round.
The original 32-page bulletin by Ján Báňas is bibliographically identified, but its pages were not available for direct inspection. The archive does not present a reconstructed official tie-break order or claim that an original contemporary matrix was inspected.
