- 19…Nf6 Why not first Q R - Q sq? Black ought to complete his development, before making aggressive or defensive manoeuvres. Moreover the Knight was well posted at Q 4.
- 20.Qf3 This Bishop was also well placed. The simplest continuation was Kt - K 2, in order to dislodge White's advanced post at K B 5.
- 22…Kf8 As Kt - R 6 was threatened.
- 23.Rae1 An ingenious sacrifice, which, however, should not have won with the best defence.
