A place in the international

The June competition was a national masters selection preceding the Second International Tournament of the City of Buenos Aires. The international’s contemporary tournament book records the municipal secretary of culture’s explanation that prior selection gave rising Argentine players the opportunity to earn places alongside the invited masters.

The July international has its own field and result, and is presented separately in the archive. The Panno–Quinteros match held in Buenos Aires that year is also a separate contest.

Nine Swiss rounds

The 26 players contested nine rounds, with 13 games in each round. The 117 archived scores cover nine games for every player and agree with the published result list. Quinteros finished half a point clear.

Players with equal point totals are grouped together here. The inspected sources do not establish the official tiebreak order or a precise playing venue for the qualifier.
