- 9…c5 Not good as it weakens the QP. The correct move is B—K3. (See Col. 12.)
- 11…Qd7 If 11....BxP; 12 R—K sq., 12 P—Q4; (best, for if 12....B—Kt3; 13 B—Q5, 13 R—B sq.!; 14 B—Kt7, 14 R—B2; 15 BxRP followed by P—QR4 and should win. If 12....B—B3; 13 B—Q5, 13 Q—Q2, 14 Q—B3, 14 BxB; 15 QxB, 15 R—Q sq.; 16 B—B4 followed by P—QR4 with a fine attack, and wins) 13 P—B3 followed by BxP.
- 12…c4 Weak for White's Q4 sq. is made accessible to the hostile pieces. Kt—Kt3 at once was better.
- 16…Rae8 It was better to play the KR in order to remove B—B sq., which completely protected the King's side.
- 17…Bd8 In order to prepare for the advance of the QP, for if now 18....P—Q4; 19 P—K5 and Black dare not capture twice on account of the ultimate Kt—K7 ch., followed by QxRP ch.
- 20…axb5 An excellent sacrifice of a P which well repays.
- 22…Qc7 An ingenious trap as will be seen.
- 23…Re5 Overlooking the opponent's design. Kt—K4 with the view of sacrificing the exchange by Kt—Q6 in case the opponent played Kt—Q6 was his best defense.
- 25.Nh6+ This wins by force.
