Notes by C. von Bardeleben.
- 6…c5 I prefer Kt x Kt; 7. B x Kt, Kt to B 3.
- 9…Bc5 Better would be B to K 2, to be followed by Castles.
- 10…Qc7 I should have Castled, and if 11. B to K Kt 5, then B to Kt 3.
- 14…Rad8 If Q to Kt 3, ch; 15. B to K 3 (!), then if Q x P (?); 16. Kt to B 4, Q to Kt 5; 17. Q R to Kt sq, and White wins a Piece.
- 16…g6 White threatens 17. R to R 3, followed by 18. Kt to Kt 4.
- 17.c4 A very fine move, which prepares for the nineteenth move of White; if at once B to B 3, Black would reply Kt to Q 4.
- 17…Bxe5 This exchange opens White's game, and gives him a good opportunity of an attack against the Black King's side; preferable is P to Kt 3, to be followed by B to Kt 2.
- 21.b3 To prevent Kt to R 5.
- 27.Rxh6 Very pretty; if Black play R x R; 28. B x P, wins.
