- 8…Bg4 The consistent play is P - Q 4. If White does not open the centre, Black need not Castle.
- 9.d3 The preparation to an interesting attack.
- 14.Qe2 Artificial. He should, at any rate, play 14) Kt - B sq, to play the Knight to K 3. 14) .... Kt - Kt 4 need not be feared, as he could then simply take the Knight and play after 15) .... P x B; 16) Kt - K 3, B - K 3; 17) P - K Kt 3, in which case his King would only be apparently but not really in danger.
- 24…Bg5 Black conducted the whole attack in magnificent style. The last move completes the envelopment of White's forces by fixing the Knight at Q 2.
- 25.Ne4 His only chance was 25) P x P, P x P; 26) R x Kt, Q x R; 27) Kt x P. By sacrificing the exchange for a Pawn he would have freed himself from his cramped position, and he ought then to have offered a good resistance by planting the Knight at K 3, whence he could not be easily driven away.
