A year on, the Sarajevo Bosna tournament again ended in a tie for first. The Yugoslav grandmaster Dragoljub Ćirić and the Soviet player Anatoly Lein finished level on 10 points from 15 games, half a point clear of a chasing group led by Nikolai Krogius and Lubomír Kavalek.
The Bosna tournament
The annual Sarajevo international, organized by the city's chess club and known as the Bosna tournament, was among Yugoslavia's leading events. As in the surrounding years it was played as a single round-robin of sixteen players over fifteen rounds, 120 games in total, and drew a strong mix of Soviet and Yugoslav masters.
Held by tradition in the spring, the tournament offered visiting Soviet players a well-regarded testing ground and the home grandmasters a chance to measure themselves against them.
