A memorial for Furman

International arbiter Alexander Geller described the St Petersburg tournament as a tribute to Semyon Furman, the player, analyst and trainer whose 75th birthday fell in 1995. The contemporary report calls it a December meeting of veterans, without giving its exact playing days.

Two players share first

Vasiukov and Taimanov finished half a point ahead of Vladimir Bagirov, Igor Zaitsev, Vladimir Savon and Vasily Smyslov, who each scored 5/9. Geller's published final standings give all ten players' scores.

One score is missing

Mega2024 preserves four games in the first round and five in every later round. Its only missing pairing is Savon against Boris Vladimirov. Their eight archived games produce 4½ and 3 points respectively; Geller's final scores are 5 and 3½, establishing a missing draw. No movetext or reliable color order for that game was found, so the cross table marks its cell as unavailable.
